A Brief History
Bhatter College, Dantan is an ‘A’ Grade NAAC Accredited Govt. aided college affiliated to Vidyasagar University and it was identified as a College with Potential for Excellence by UGC, New Delhi. It was the long-standing cherished dream of the Governing Body of Bhatter College, Dantan, especially Shri Bikram Chandra Pradhan, the President of the GB and Dr. Pabitra Kumar Mishra, the Principal of the college, to provide technical education to the rural youth. The college being situated in a remote and backward area in the south-western border of West Bengal caters to the educational needs of the people, the majority of whom belong to S.C., S.T.,O.B.C and economically weaker sections. As the college had the infrastructural space for the running some technical courses affiliated to NCVT in addition to its existing courses, the members of the GB felt that an ITI would be beneficial for the local people. As a result, Bhatter College Private Industrial Training Institute was established in the year 2012 by Bhatter College, Dantan and a much needed institute for providing technical education came into existence.
The ITI started with the aim to provide vocational training to large number of rural youth and women folk of Kharagpur Sub-division of the district of Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. The Institute has its own building within the campus of Bhatter College, Dantan. This is the first institute in West Bengal to have been started under the ownership of a Govt. aided General Degree College to meet the growing needs of industry standard technical hands of manufacturing and service sectors.
Bhatter College Private Industrial Training Institute is a Category-I institute, i.e., all the courses /trades/units of the Institution have already been accorded/affiliated to National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), Govt. of India, New Delhi.
